SafetyatSea has recently opened its second office in the UK. The Aberdeen office, situated on Riverside Drive is focused on establishing a presence for SafetyatSea in the offshore Oil & Gas and Renewables industries.
SafetyatSea’s growing interests in the offshore energy market aims to establish itself as a trusted name for safety related analysis and consulting as it has done in the shipping sector. Although the company has its roots in shipping, many of its innovations in safety are readily applied to offshore challenges bringing fresh safety engineering approaches to the industry.
Offshore regulation is changing to incorporate many of the advances in regulation in the shipping industry. Special Purpose ships carrying over 60 crew are required to follow some elements of the SOLAS passenger ship rules requiring the specialist skills SafetyatSea can offer. One of the major impacts will be ‘Safe Return to Port’; which requires the continued operation of systems following specified fire and flooding casualty scenarios. Applying what was conceived as
a passenger based rule to offshore vessels poses new challenges, but can be done effectively provided the right tools and expertise are brought to bear.
SafetyatSea offers consultancy services in the areas of:
- Operations support
- Subsea developments
- Renewable energies
